1. Aim:

Journal of Glaciology and Geocryology is a unique academic journal mainly publishing studies and results on snow, ice, frozen ground, cryosphere and global change that have high impact on the economy and development of cold regions. It is aimed to support new ideas, viewpoints, methods and theories in theoretical and applied fields, to promote domestic and international academic exchange, and to strengthen the understanding of the cryosphere and global change.

2. Scope:

Journal of Glaciology and Geocryology intends to publish research articles, reports and reviews involving: (1) properties and process of snow, ice and frozen ground (including artificial frozen ground) and their control; (2) resources and environment in the cryosphere; (3) dynamic variations and interactions of components in the cryosphere; (4) the interaction between cryosphere and atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, lithosphere and human activity; (5) hydrology and water resources in cold regions; (6) ecosystem and construction in cold regions; (7) global change; (8) engineering and disaster prevention and mitigation in cold regions; (9) cold region biology; (10) application of advanced techniques to the development and investigation in cold regions.

3. Domestic Influence:

The scope of the journal covers the status quo and trend of glaciology, geocryology and research in cold regions in China. It is a window for foreign scientists to get to know glaciology and geocryology in China. The international standing of the journal is comparable to that of other international well-known periodicals, for example those published by the International Glaciological Society and the International Permafrost Association. It has published more than 20 papers that won prizes at the State, Province or Ministry level. Many reports published in the journal were rated as top-ten news or major achievements in the national science and technology field. There were many research results that had made huge impact on social and economic development, such as the construction and reformation of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway and Railway; the control of snow-hazards in the Tianshan Highways; the glacial flood forecast and control in Xinjiang; the exploitation of water resources in Northwest China; and the ecosystem and environmental protection in the headwaters of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River. Through more than 30 years, the journal has developed a great reputation. It not only has a stable group of contributors, including international authors, but also an extensive readership. Both the quantity and quantity of the published papers have improved continuously, with an indispensable position and extensively international influence.

The journal has been selected as indexed journals by 15 Chinese and 20 internationally renowned databases. It has been also recognized and acknowledged by three international professional information centers and classified as a core journal by major domestic databases below:
